Well I have to start by saying that this is a very interesting documentary style dvd, however if you've seen any of New Jack's previous shoot interviews then you've heard alot of these stories before (some word for word the same) however there are some extra tidbits and views thrown in that hasn't been seen elsewhere.
This documentary was done by the same guy who did '101 Reasons NOT to be a Pro Wrestler' which pretty much sucked, so I really didn't have high hopes for this other than it's always funny listening to New Jack go off about shit. The video features New Jack in various locations telling different stories and discussing different topics(as well outlining his career). The really great thing is it shows match clips including the infamous match in Florida that landed him in jail for three weeks untill the charges were dropped, in which Jack is working some shitass who obviously has NO CLUE how to work. After trying to work with this idiot for a couple of minutes, New Jack has enough and PULLS A KNIFE out of his pocket and commences to STABBING this poor bastard numerous times, once in the face even!!
Also included is the brutal beating of old ass Gypsy Joe at a Mike Porter show in Tennessee, there are clips shown during the main show, then the entire match is shown in the extras. This match has to be seen to be believed, again New Jack tries to work with the 75 year old but after Joe doesn't sell and then headbutts him in the nose New Jacks procedes to beat the fuck out of the old man while rednecks scream the "n-word" and various other racial slurs at him. He hit the guy in the head full on with a barbed wire baseball bat, not worked mind you. He then whips him with the barbed wire and wrapped it around his head and ripped it off. Finally the promoter stops the match to keep Gypsy Joe from literally being killed.
Anyway, I'm not gonna spoil it all here but Jack discusses his career in depth as well as: the Mass Transit story in detail, balcony diving, dumbass backyard wrestlers and why they "deserve to get hurt", Vic Grimes, beating up fans, ECW road stories, drugs, rats, and a million other things.
If your a fan of New Jack, I would recommend this, or even if your not it's still a very interesting dvd. Check out a preview of it below.
Check back soon as I will have a LOT more reviews coming up (I just got in about 50 new dvds this week) Amongst the upcoming shoot reviews will be shoots with Paul Bearer, Ernest "the Cat" Miller, Lollipop, Mike Awesome, and more, including a brand new shoot with Tammy "Sunny" Sytch where she discusses the death of Chris Candido, her disagreements with his family on how it was handled, the fact her and Chris were never legally married, and her 9 month affair with "HBK" himself!
Well I had thought about trying to start a '411 Mania' on a local level type website, I've decided not to since NO ONE appreciates anything anyone tries to do anyway and only lives to bitch and complain so fuck that.... I'll stick to putting shit here, where I know at least a handful of people reads it.(and emails it to people who are "too busy" to read it "themselves", right big guy ;)
Anyways, this is gonna be a short one. I've had some time to watch some stuff this week as I've been sitting around with my arm in a sling with my fucked up ribs from my trip Corinth the other week. I had the chance to watch the 'BostonWrestling.com Shoot Interview with the Iron Sheik'. Man this damn thing was hilarious. First off, you've got the Sheik sitting there sporting a cheap ass WCW replica belt, and he's wearing a Olympic jacket with his infamous blue Kurt Angle t-shirt that he wore the night of his IWF appearence. I'm not gonna spoil the whole thing for people who want to see it(email me if your interested in picking up one) But just some of the highlights are:
He refers to Hulk Hogan as a "blond hollywood jabroni faggot worse than the Michael Jackson" (He's bitter Hogan didn't get him a gig in the heyday of WCW, after saying he owed Sheik for not taking Gagne's bribe money to shoot on him and keep the title in MSG in '84)
He tells a story about leaving the Fabulous Moolah on the side of an interstate because she took offense to him and Greg Valentine partaking of their "medicine" with her in the car, so he told Greg to pull the car over so she could "git de fuck out"
He says Andre was a "big french faggot" and was a total asshole to fans who would try to talk to him.
He wouldn't let the interviewer use the term "work" when referring to his matches, he had to say "wrestle." (he tried for the first half to kayfabe then finally somewhat gave up towards the middle)
Told Wendi Richter to her face she must be a lesbian because she refused to sleep with him after smoking up all his "medicine."
Tells the story of how his 15 year friendship with Nikolai Volkoff ended over $2.
He found out that his wife for years had been cashing royality checks that he didn't know he was getting and spent them without telling him. ("She is fucking bitch jabroni who broke my heart worse than Hulk Hogan and Nikolai."
All this and tons of other psychobabble that is quite funny and sad at the same time.
For a little sample here's a clip from youtube.com:
Well, I can't help but notice my updates have gotten nearly as scarce as a certain "award winning writer's" and I figured I need to stop slacking. So I intend to start updating more regularly. It's not that I don't have anything to say I just haven't been taking the time to do it.
First off let me say that I thought Burcham's interview with Dusty Rhodes was tremendous, one of the better interviews I've read from Dusty online. I sent him an email telling him so. (David that is, not Dusty)
I also like to new layout of HollywoodJimmy.com, I'm gonna email Tia to see if I can get linked back up to it.
Speaking of HollywoodJimmy.com, while I agree that everyone has the right to their own opinion and that everyone's tastes in what they find to be "good wrestling" and "bad wrestling" are different I have to agree with the concensus of the board that Axeman either didn't see the Wrestlemania match between Mickie James and Trish, or he judged the whole match off of ONE blown spot, which wasn't all Mickie's fault. Then to talk about what a "great wrestler" Trish is (HUH??) and then say Mickie James can't work, is kinda hard to fathom. Now, I'm not saying Mickie is a "great wrestler" in the sense that Triple H, or Shawn Michaels are "great wrestlers" but when you compare her experience and ability to the rest of the women's division(Torrie, Candace Michelle, even Trish and Victoria) She comes out looking like Kurt Angle.
As for his comments on the Spirit Squad, well yeah they are jumping around "like faggots" but when your given the character of a "male cheerleader" what else are you going to do?? Is it a great gimmick? No. Will it last? No. Are those guys doing the best they can with what the writers have dealt them? I think so. I think it's a decent enough gimmick to get there feet in the door and the better ones will break out from it and the rest will end up back in OVW with the "Dicks" from Smackdown. Now this will probably catch me some flack like my Samoa Joe column did but I'm just trying to provide another perspective, not attack anyone. So no one has to get there panties in a bunch, just giving my opinion on things.
I can't believe that people are STILL arguing with Hugo on that damn message board. It's been going on for YEARS (literally, think back some of you guys, this shits been going since AT LEAST '98 or '99) Just let it go, regardless of what your opinion of Gary is and we all have one, what good does it do to argue that shit day in and day out. LET IT FUCKIN' GO, and Gary, we all know your "resume" you don't have to post that shit under various names. Leave it be. DAMN.
Well, I ended up in Tupelo this past friday after all and I ended up going to work the PCW or E or whatever the fuck on Friday night. As always I had a good time. Got to see a few people I haven't seen in a while and I met a few people I knew of but had never met. One of the more interesting people was Dustin Burcham, when I told him my name he said, "Gene Jackson, you write Cheap Heat?" I said, "Yeah, you like it?" He said, "Yeah, it's alright. I'm the one who put it on the SGWA site as space filler." Then he started putting over his column and I kinda zoned out, I was thinking, either this guy has some balls, or he's a complete fucking idiot." Later, in the night he came up and told me that he always thought that I was black!?!? Well guess that answered my question. Anyhow, Ned was short on babyfaces so I ended up being one. I teamed with Rocker against Neil and Brian Steele, the match was a lot of fun but during it I fucked up and stepped into a shoulder tackle, and took a shoulder in the chest that felt like it knocked my heart out of my asshole. It knocked the breath out of me and as I sit here three days later barely able to move my left arm, having trouble breathing and feeling like there's a knife in my chest I decided that from here on I will stick with writing about wrestling rather than actually trying to do it. So, not that anyone cares but that was my last match. I'm through wrestling. For real, not one of those Terry Funk I'm through wrestling til the next time deals. I'm mean I'm seriously done. My reason for mentioning this is, hopefully this will help me to write more since it will be my only avenue of somewhat being involved.
So in the coming months I plan to write more regularly, possibly do some more 'Cheap Heat Interviews', and maybe get back on HollywoodJimmy.com. If your a wrestler, manager, valet, rat, or whatever and you would like to be interviewed, shoot me an email at genejackson@charter.net
I also plan to get back to doing more dvd reviews and things in the future, if you have any comments or suggestions please email me at the address above.
It's been over a month since I posted anything so I thought I should type up something so here goes.
First off thanks to everyone who has emailed me or told me in person that your praying for my mother, it's VERY much appreciated. So far she has taken well to the chemo and the Dr. says you couldn't ask for things to be going any better and I truly believe it's due to all the prayers of everyone.
Due to my mother's illness I found myself unexpectedly in Tupelo last weekend, since there were so many friends and family passing through the hospital room, I decided I would go out for the night so she could get some rest. I called up Neil and decided to go with him to the GTW show in Montpilliar on Saturday night. Well I was glad I did cause we had a lot of fun. There wasn't much of a crowd there and there were only 6 workers there including me and Mr. Sensational. I didn't have my gear with me but still managed to wrestle two matches in my dress shoes and pants I wear to work. Despite that fact I still had a f'n ball. The small crowd was very loud and very into the show and we gave them one as best we could. I'm sure J.D. will tell about it in more detail and hopefully he will go into detail about the brainfart of the promoter putting someone whose NEVER BEEN TRAINED.........AT ALL..... into a MATCH?!?!?! It wasn't quite the clusterfuck you would think, it actually looked very belivable, which considering J.D. was the only one 'working', it was something to see.
Well, I'll post something else soon. I typed a bunch of stuff awhile back about Wrestlemania and TNA but by the time I went to finish it, it was kinda outdated.
